I am pouring my love into this life
Moving to Berlin more than 6 years ago offered a clean slate for my life’s structure. Being new in the city and working a demanding startup job meant I had little personal or social activities outside of work.
Over time as I got more aware of my different needs, I realized I prefer a more balanced life. I categorize needs broadly into physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs that come into play in a personal, social or professional context.
I have been exploring many interests (and projects, professions, hobbies, …) with varying intensity and commitment to cover my needs. Some of my interests were fleeting passions, some of them I dropped immediately. Some I carried on for a few years until turning my attention away.
Sometimes I pick up an interest I’ve put away only to find that now is a better time for the two of us to spend time together.
Finally, some interests have become an integral part of my day to day practice of life.
As time went by, I have become better in finding “commitment configurations” that fit my personality, needs, and talents. And every day, I am searching for new interests, new ways to find excitement.
When I tell people about my different interests, I often hear a variation of the question how do you manage to get all of this done?
My answer can turn towards different aspects. Today I will share the framing I am most connected with these days:
I am finding interests that I enjoy pouring my love into. I fill my life with interests, interests consisting of moments, moments consisting of breaths, and breaths that are directly connected to my life force.
My interests then offer a container, a form of accumulation, for my love and dedication. And like a flower that grows with water, sunlight, and soil, my life grows as I breathe attention, love, and dedication into it.
I am pouring my love into this life.
As I contemplate more on this metaphor, I connect to my next step. What if I go beyond containers that contain my love and let it pour freely to form a wild river, flowing over all rocks and sediments on the way and finally give my all into an endless ocean of abundance?
I am here to find out.
